Bayer Pattern

Bayer Pattern is an arrangement of photosites (pixels) on a digital image sensor that takes advantage of the fact that green pixels hold more picture information that red or blue pixels do. Most image sensors use a combination of red, green and blue photosite pixels that are sensitive to one spectrum of color each and in the bayer pattern of arranging pixels you get double the amount of green pixels which allows for better image quality when comparted to an image sensor with equal distributions of Red, Green and Blue (RGB) pixels.
