Gamma

Gamma is a correction process which helps adjust the brightness of a digital image on a monitor display in a conversion process of signal input values into light output values. 

Gamma must be correctly applied to all display monitors in order for images to have a consistent and predicable appearance to viewers on multiple types and brands of viewing devices.
